Farm Accident Victim Airlifted To Hospital

An elderly man is in hospital after spending the night pinned under a tractor.

Alvinston Fire Chief Ron McCabe says emergency crews were called just before 6am Wednesday to a property on Shiloh Line near Alvinston, where an 82-year-old man was trapped under a farm vehicle.

Middlesex OPP say the 82-year-old became pinned under the tractor's rear tire, between the vehicle and a hydro pole around 9pm Tuesday. McCabe says firefighters were able to use air bags to extricate the man.

"Middlesex EMS was there on scene when we arrived and OPP, as well as Ornge Air Ambulance was called to transport the man to London," says McCabe.

According to Middlesex OPP, the man's injuries were originally considered potentially life-threatening. They are now reporting non-life threatening injuries.

The Ministry of Labour is investigating.
