Lakers GM Reacts To Coach Resignation

The General Manager of the Wallaceburg Lakers Great Lakes Jr. C Hockey Club is breaking his silence after head coach Derek Ellis resigned.

Ritch Kanally says he was surprised when Ellis and assistants Ryan Paxton and Steve Gagner stepped down.

"It was kinda disappointed about it. We had a plan in place and now it's not gonna happen," says Kanally. "We had a coaching staff set, and now we have to make changes with the staff. I gotta now look for other people, and that's stuff I wasn't planning on doing. We thought we were all on the same page, and we're not. And that's why they decided to step down."

Kanally says it was just so sudden and he hasn't even thought about a possible replacement behind the bench.

Just last Wednesday the Lakers introduced their new ownership group, the Byrne Laus Hockey Corporation.
