Local Man Killed In Hit And Run In Vancouver

A former Windsor man is dead after being struck by a vehicle while skateboarding in Vancouver.

The Vancouver Police Department says on Sunday around 2:30am, two men were skateboarding in the area of Heather St. and West 54th Ave. when one of them was hit by a car. The driver of the vehicle left the scene without stopping.

The victim of the hit and run was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

News and social media have identified the man as 30-year-old Ryan Barron. According to Barron's Facebook page, he is originally from Windsor and attended Tilbury District High School.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and are looking for a silver, older Mitsubishi car with damage to the driver's side front-end.
