Local Area Dodges Freezing Rain

Predictions of freezing rain for much of Ontario have come true but Chatham-Kent and Windsor Essex have dodged that bullet as temperatures stayed above the freezing mark.

Environment Canada's Rob Kuhn says temperatures will likely not fall below freezing in the extreme southwest but the rest of the province isn't as lucky.

"There's a large swath of freezing rain over much of Southwestern Ontario starting at West Lorne and Strathroy into London and Simcoe and the greater Toronto area," he says. "Windsor, Essex, Chatham-Kent areas the temperature has stayed above (0 C, 32 F) so we are just going to be dealing with a rain event."

Kuhn says local forecasts predict a return to April-like temperatures in the mid-teens for this afternoon, for Essex and Chatham-Kent.
