St. Clair Hosting And Competing For National Crown

The Canadian women's college basketball championships kick off today at St. Clair College in Windsor.

The school's Athletic Coordinator Ted Beale says it's been two years in the making.

"We're looking forward to the opportunity to put on a showcase here at our Sportsplex," he adds. "It's a great venue, obviously, and the calibre of basketball will be tremendous."

Eight teams from across the country will be in town to compete in the three-day tournament.

Beale says it's hard to say exactly how many people the tournament brings to Windsor, but he expects it's at least a few hundred.

The St. Clair Saints kick off their schedule against Canada's number-one ranked Sainte-Foy tonight at 6pm.
