Arrest Made In Cedar Springs Arson

Police have charged a 24-year-old Chatham man in connection with a suspicious fire in Cedar Springs.

Crews were called to the multi-unit residence on Charing Cross Rd. around 2:30am yesterday. Fire officials say seven of the eight units were occupied and had to be evacuated while crews put out the fire.

Damage was pegged at $80,000.

The Chatham man is charged with arson endangering life, arson damage to property, and break and enter. Investigators say he was released with conditions pending a future court date.

The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal was called in yesterday to investigate.
