Mayor Wants ORV Offenders Tracked

Now that rules governing off-road vehicles have been loosened in Chatham-Kent, the mayor wants police to track any violations.

Randy Hope says it's important information to consider when the one-year trial period expires next March.

"I mean it's gotta be something that we pay attention and the collection of our data," says Hope. "I mean other motor vehicles like motorcycles and that they're all part of the part and parcel, the municipality is something different and we need to pay attention to what are the involvements and what is it around ATVs or off-road vehicles."

Hope says he's also looking to the tourism department to collect numbers to see if the new ORV bylaw draws visitors to the region.
