Maroons Down Stars 5-2

The Chatham Maroons earned a 5-2 victory over the St. Thomas Stars to take a 2-0 playoff series lead on Friday.

After Chatham took a 1-0 advantage in the first period, the two teams battled in the second with the Maroons extending their lead to 4-2. Chatham capped off their win with one final unanswered goal in the third.

Maroons forward Austin Thompson scored twice in the win and says it was important to to keep the pressure on St. Thomas.

"The first period we played good, the second wasn't one of the strongest so far, so I knew in the third we'd have to take it to them," he says. "We want to take that 2-0 lead heading back home."

The two teams will face off for Game 3 on Sunday at 7pm.
