Seven More Pit Bulls Seized

Chatham-Kent police have made another arrest in connection with a dog fighting investigation in the Tilbury area.

Police say they arrested a 32-year-old Kent Bridge man on Tuesday in connection with their ongoing investigation.

Officers also searched two properties in the Kent Bridge area, where they found and seized seven pit bull-type dogs. Officers say those dogs are now being housed in an undislcosed location outside of Chatham-Kent.

“As with any investigation, each animal is assessed individually," says Ontario SPCA Senior Inspector Jennifer Bluhm in a media release. "The society will be working with experts in animal behaviour that specialize in dog fighting dogs to ensure the needs identified by the experts are addressed for each of these dogs."

Investigators say 32-year-old Robert Tomlin is now charged with two counts of cruelty to animals -- one for causing unnecessary pain or suffering and one for encouraging, aiding, or assisting in the fighting or baiting of animals.

He has been released with conditions and a future court date.
