Hunter Fined For Infraction

Failure to unload a gun at the end of the hunting day has cost a Bothwell area man $2,000 and will keep him out of the deer hunt for the coming year.

Conservation officers on patrol in Elgin County November 20th saw Clifford Lagace leave a corn field half an hour after legal hunting hour with an un-cased and loaded muzzle loader.

The law requires firearms to be unloaded and cased half an hour after the end of the days legal hours for hunting.

Lagace pleaded guilty to the offence and was fined $1,500 and his hunting licence was suspended for a year.

He also pleaded guilty to threatening the conservation officers and was fine $500 and banned from possessing firearms or ammunition for one year.
