Vipers Edge Maroons 5-4

The Chatham Maroons dropped a two goal lead to lose 5-4 to the LaSalle Vipers on Sunday.

After tying the game 2-2 at the end of the first period, the Maroons scored another two in the second to gain the advantage. However, LaSalle tied the game a four points a piece before the third, and Vipers forward Cale Allen scored the game winner in the final frame.

Maroons forward Steven Beenackers says it was a tough loss to swallow.

"The last five minutes of the second period was definitely the turning point of the game," he says. "We should have taken the 4-2 lead and ran with it, but a couple of mistakes cost us big tonight."

The Vipers return to the ice on Wednesday to take on the Lambton Shores Predators at 7pm. Also at 7pm, the Maroons will face off against the Strathroy Rockets.
