Bonduelle Looking to Expand

Bonduelle is looking for expansion opportunities in Tecumseh now that the plant has fully recovered from a massive 2014 fire.

The frozen warehouses that were destroyed in the fire are now fully operational along with the packaging and refrigeration unit that were repaired previously.

Vice President of Operations Robert Anderson says they can now focus on new opportunities for the site.

"General Mills has recently sold the [Green Giant] brand to B&G Foods which is a brand holding company out of New Jersey so we're in the middle of discussing options with B&G Foods going forward," says Anderson. "It's critical to us at that location that we can continue to pack for Green Giant Canada and with that it could bring us further opportunities for expansion."

Currently 85% of the plant's production is packaged for Green Giant. Anderson says the plant has room to grow by about 20-25%.

Bonduelle employs 170 full time staff and over 400 people during the summer at the Tecumseh plant.
