Boot Drive Surpasses Last Year's Total

A boot drive by the local Professional Firefighters Association has topped the total from last year.

Chatham-Kent association treasurer (CKPFFA) Brent Case says donations from the Chatham and Wallaceburg Santa Claus parades along with internal fund raising totalled almost $3,400. That's about $300 more than last year which will help an additional three children at Chatham-Kent Children's Services (CKCS).

"And $100 for each child, $50 of that goes towards clothing and $50 of that goes towards toys," says Case. "So we went out with a CKCS representative and we did a toy buy, so it was fantastic to be able to help the community."

The total from Santa Claus parades was over $1,900 while money raised between the departments four shifts totalled $1,470, for a grand total of $3,371. Case says 33 children, between the ages of 0-18 will be supported through the initiative.

This is the third year CKPFFA teamed up to support Children's Services.
