ATV Bylaw Back In Spotlight

Following Steve Pinsonneault's failed attempt to pass an ATV bylaw in Chatham-Kent, another municipal councillor is bringing it back into the spotlight.

Councillor Darren Canniff will motion to have staff review regulations for an ATV bylaw, a month after the last draft was shot down by council. However, Canniff is requesting a few more specifics be addressed within the new standards.

While ATVs would be allowed on municipal roads, riders could not travel on CK highways, or within towns and cities. They could, however, cross these highways and town streets. Canniff also wants staff to consider adding a licensing fee or liability waiver that would be regulated by the municipality. That, along with a possible fine for trespassers.
