Nearly Record Breaking Temps

The high temperatures yesterday weren't record breaking, but very close.

Windsor was the warmest part of the region, where the mercury hit 22.7 C (72.8 F). That ties a record at Windsor airport set in 1987.

In Chatham-Kent it was close to breaking a record, but didn't quite hit it.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Peter Kimbell says a high pressure system along the eastern seaboard gets the credit.

"That's basically generating a southerly flow of air over the midwest including Michigan and Ohio and into Ontario as well, so we're getting the air that should be a lot further south," he says.

Kimbell says the temperatures will become more seasonal over the weekend.
