Chatham-Kent staff are hoping concerns about possible closures on Keil Dr. will soon be water under the bridge.
Construction is set to begin on the Parry Bridge near the corner of Keil and Riverview Dr., which could mean headaches for ag vehicles and larger trucks.
Engineering Technologist Dave Charron says they're not sure how impactful the closures might be, but they are coming.
"There possibly could be a complete closure for the structure, it depends on the design our consultants come up with. But more than likely, there will at least be lane closures like in previous years," he says.
Charron adds they have been getting complaints and concerns about the major vein in Chatham's infrastructure, particularly from the agricultural industry and other frequent users of the bridge. He says they're addressing them as best they can.
The first stage of work will be completed before the end of the year, with construction wrapping up in the spring of 2016. At that time the weight restrictions will also be removed from the bridge.
Chatham-Kent Council has approved the choice of Exeter's GM Blueplan Engineering as the winning bid for construction.
