Ag Hall Of Fame Honourees

This years list of inductees into the Kent Agricultural Hall of Fame reflects researchers to business people and farmers who helped modernize the industry.

Association Chair Ken Stevenson says that reflects the broad range of talent reflected in modern agriculture.

"It's a total package, farmers need to buy farm supplies and depend on the researchers," he says. "We don't make the nominations ourselves, it's up to people; they judge people in the community who have had a long term commitment to agriculture and the various areas where people have served."

Conservationist and soil science researcher professor Gerald Nelson Ruhnke will inducted posthumously.

The other inductees are:

  • Dover area farmer and former politician Rex Crawford
  • Bill and Diane Parks, founders of Parks Blueberries and major promoters of agriculture
  • Al DeWitte, Maurice Neutens, and Terry Youlton who were involved in the modernization of the fertilizer industry with Kent County Fertilizers
  • Alice Uher for involvement in dealing with the challenges to intensive livestock operations.
The ceremony will be held November 17 at Country View Golf Course.
