CK Amazing Race Raises Over $35K

Thirteen teams have tested their physical and mental strength in grueling challenges across the municipality for the tenth annual Chatham-Kent Amazing Race.

On Saturday, the teams made their way to challenge sites in Chatham, Tilbury, Merlin, North Buxton, Ridgetown and Blenheim. The event culminated at Links of Kent Golf Course where the final five teams competed in the finale.

Tom Slager, United Way's acting director of resource development, says it was a great way to close out the summer.

"When you get to a tenth year, it's a milestone. So, we're really proud of that," he says. "It was an all star race, so we re-invited teams (from previous years). It was open to the public but the vast majority of our teams were teams that have competed before. It was sort of a 'come back and do it again' race."

The exact dollar amount has yet to be totaled, but Slager says the race has raised over $35,000 for the United Way.
