The Chatham-Kent Police Service has taken possession of two new Harley Davidson motorcycles as part of its traffic enforcement division.
Deputy Chief Jeff Littlewood says the maneuverability they provide makes them ideal for a number uses.
"They're good for parades traffic enforcement, special duties, what I mean in parades, all sorts of parades (including) funeral escorts, escorts especially," he says. "The bikes bring a different perspective to our police service, they show off, these guys are dedicated riders and do well in competitions."
The $30,000 machines replace versions that are almost eight years old and arrive just in time for the Great Lakes Motorcycle Training Competition which the Chatham police service is hosting next week.
The police service has two regular duty motor cycles in its fleet and keeps one older model as a spare.
