Lakeshore is going to try again to get a new sewage treatment plant built in Stoney Point.
Town council has sent off a $14.3-million grant request to the federal government.
"It's something that there's a huge need for that sewage treatment plant on the north shore. We've reapplied. The need hasn't gotten any less, it's only gotten greater," says Bain, calling the project a top priority for the town.
The mayor adds a new plant would end the development freeze in the north shore.
"Development is very limited. We were able to free up a few lots. I'd say within the last ten years we've probably done ten lots in the whole area," says Bain. "You've got areas like Lighthouse Cove and Stoney Point that are great retirement areas, but unfortunately we can't go ahead with any subdivisions in there until we get the sanitary sewer question straightened out."
Bain expects the town will have an answer within the next six months.
