A record number of golfers hit the Links Of Kent Golf Club this weekend in support of a good cause.
On Saturday, around 132 golfers gathered at the Chatham golf course for the eighth annual McLeod Moustache Memorial Golf Tournament.
The tournament is held annually in memory of Nik McLeod, who passed away nine years ago after being diagnosed with leukemia.
Nik's brother Chris organizes the event and says the donations raised at the tournament have yet to be totaled, but he anticipates it will be a record amount .
Chris says the tournament resonates with so many people because everyone knows someone who has been touched by cancer.
"There's so many people that just come up and say my brother passed away, or my cousin, my aunt, my dad... it touches so many different people," he says. "We see a lot people who have no connection to my family, no connection to my brother whatsoever (and) they're stepping up and they just believe in the cause."
All money raised for the golf tournament will be donated to the Chatham-Kent Hospice, the Canadian Cancer Society Wheels of Hope, and the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Oncology Patient Parking Program.
Last year, over $7,000 was raised and donated locally.
