Assault In Wallaceburg

A disturbance in Wallaceburg has landed a Walpole Island man with numerous charges, including assault.

Chatham-Kent police say last night around 8:30pm, an intoxicated man approached a man he knew on a motorized scooter on Reaume Ave., started allegedly threatening him and then assaulted him.

The victim's wife ran home to call police, but the suspect allegedly followed her and entered the home and confronted her.

He fled when officers arrived but was apprehended following a short foot chase.

The 23-year-old suspect, who was bound by a condition to not possess any drugs, was allegedly carrying a pipe with marijuana at the time of his arrest.

He has been charged with assault, uttering threats, break and enter, failing to comply, and drug possession. He is being held pending a bail hearing.
