Lambton OPP are investigating after thieves stole $5,000 worth of copper from a docked freighter in Point Edward this weekend.
Unknown suspects forcibly entered a fenced area to gain access to a freighter location in the Exmouth St. and St. Clair River area.
Thieves proceeded to remove approximately 150 ft. of heavy gauged copper wire used to provide electricity from the shore and about 500 ft. of cable used to operate welding machines that were located on board the freighter.
