The man accused of running down and killing his estranged wife has been denied bail.
The judge says Scott Quick "must be detained in order to maintain the administration of justice."
Defence lawyer Patrick Ducharme says he's disappointed in the ruling, but plans to proceed to trial.
"I've thought from day one that this is not a case where Scott Quick will ever be convicted of murder," he says. "I fully plan to challenge every aspect of the evidence. I believe in him. He's going to be a person who will testify and say that he didn't kill his wife."
On February 23, 2006, Nancy Quick died out in front of the Emeryville school she worked at after being struck by a car.
It wasn't until March 12 of this year that OPP arrested 48-year-old Quick in Belleville and charged him with first-degree murder.
The next step in the process is a preliminary inquiry. Ducharme predicts they're about a year and a half away from a trial.
"He's a strong individual, but he's disappointed that he's not released now. He was very, very hopeful of being able to see his children, get back with his family," says Ducharme.
