Shipley Looks Back

The MP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex is reflecting on the latest session of parliament.

PC Bev Shipley says one of the party's biggest accomplishments was paying down the deficit.

"We balanced the budget, paid off the deficit that we created and had a small surplus, so that's a big accomplishment for Canada," says Shipley. "Should we be fortunate enough, and we're looking at moving forward with continued surpluses, there are big challenges out there."

Shipley says those challenges include the energy sector in Canada and the falling oil prices.

The MP is now preparing for the fall federal election. Shipley says other than a campaign team, he's going to be doing what he always does in the summer, which is head out across his riding to talk to people.
