A development boom is expected near Windsor Airport once the proposed mega-hospital is given the green light. City councillor Bill Marra says it's an exciting time for that area of Windsor. "Creating a place of employment with 3,000-4,000 employees, you're going to see those lands around there gobbled up," Marra says. "You're going to see service providers, restaurants, service providers to the hospital. I think you're going to see this as a catalyst for development." After County Rd. 42 is upgraded, Marra says that may also open the door for development on the airport lands. "I'm excited. I think future councils are have their hands full dealing with development opportunities and I think it's a nice problem to have," he says. Windsor took some land from Tecumseh in that area after ministry approval. It was annexed in 2002 and typically happens when a municipality is running out of land to develop.
