Hwy. 401 Complaint Leads To Charges

A traffic complaint on Hwy. 401 in Chatham-Kent has resulted in charges against a transport truck driver.

Police received a complaint about an erratic driver in the westbound lanes near Victoria Rd. around 7:30am. Once police initiated the traffic stop OPP officials say it took the driver 2km before he eventually pulled over.

The truck was eventually escorted to the Tilbury truck stop where a joint inspection with the Ministry of Transportation was conducted. The driver, a 26-year-old Brampton man, was subsequently charged with careless driving, failing to stop commercial motor vehicle for examination, fail to surrender documentation, and having a false log.

As a result the tractor trailer has also been placed out of service for 72 hours.
