CK Property Sales At Record High

Property sales have seen a 38% jump in Chatham-Kent.

According to the Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors, last month is tied with June 2008 for the second best June on record, with 149 properties sold.

Association President Jamie Winkler says Chatham-Kent's low housing costs are what drive property sales locally.

"Our housing prices in Chatham-Kent are the lowest," he says. "It's drawing people from outside our area into the community.  In that case, it's not necessarily the ones with children, but it's people (who are) retiring."
The average price of homes sold last month was $168,879, which is down 2.6% from June 2014.
