MNR Reeling In New Anglers

Family fishing week is back in Ontario, with residents allowed to fish without a licence.

The Ministry of Natural Resources' Wil Wegman says it gives people who don't normally fish the opportunity to find a new hobby."It's a way to introduce people to fishing, whether they're participating in an event, on their own or even an experienced angler wants to take them out," he says.

Wegman adds normal fishing conservation limits still have to be observed.

A family fishing derby will take place in nearby Rodney on July 12, to cap off family fishing week. It goes from 9:30am to 2pm at Port Glasgow Marina
