A Leamington man has been charged with two counts of assault following a domestic incident in Chatham.

Police were called Sunday after the 43-year-old allegedly spit in his girlfriend's face a couple times as he was leaving her home following an argument Saturday night.

A Chatham man was taken into custody for violating his bail conditions.

A warrant was issued on Friday and the 23-year-old was spotted by an officer out on patrol near Adelaide St. and Colborne St. in Chatham yesterday.

A single-vehicle crash on Northwood Line has led to careless driving charges for a Chatham teen.

Police say the 17-year-old lost control of his vehicle around 7pm last night and crashed into a ditch.

No one was hurt, but damage is pegged at $3,000.

Twenty-nine motorists were stopped on Sunday afternoon during traffic enforcement on Longwoods Rd. near Blenheim.

Eleven of the 29 drivers were stopped for driving 30 km/h over the speed limit.

$2,000 worth of jewellery and cash are missing from a home in Blenheim.

Police say thieves made their way into the home on Catherine St. yesterday afternoon through an unlocked door.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Chatham-Kent Police or Crime Stoppers.

A Harriston woman faces a charge of having an insecure load after a bicycle fell from the top of her car and was struck by a tractor-trailer.

The incident happened on Hwy. 401 westbound near Duart Rd.

The tractor-trailer had minor damage while the bicycle was demolished. No one was injured.

The Chatham-Kent Public Utilities Commission (CK PUC) says work to restore the Wheatley Water Treatment Plant will begin in mid-October in order to have the facility up and running by next summer.
