Ken Deane will be taking over as CEO of Leamington District Memorial Hospital for about two months, as Terry Shields has hip replacement surgery.
Hospital Communications Manager Bill Baker says it's pretty common for an organization like theirs to hire an interim chief executive officer during leaves like this one. "Just to see the strategic oversight of the corporation, along with the various community engagements that are important in running a hospital."
Deane served as the president and CEO of Hotel Dieu-Grace Hospital from 2002 to 2004, and then again from 2011 to September of 2014.
Shields' absence is expected to start Thursday and last until the end of May.
