The Erie-St. Clair LHIN is getting $2.8-million from the province for four new initiatives.
Deputy Premier Deb Matthews says $2-million of the funding is going toward fighting mental illnesses and addictions.
"Particularly for young people making the transition into adulthood, and we're also looking at making sure that people with mental health and addition challenges get the supports they need, so they can live at home (instead of on the streets)," explains the former health minister of Ontario.
The other $800,000 is being split between a pilot project to help people with low back pain, physiotherapy programs in primary care, and assess and restore plans for seniors.
