Biz Ex Award Winners Honoured

The Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce has awarded a number of Chatham-Kent citizens at their 127th Business Excellence Awards Banquet.

On Thursday at Club Lentinas, Emily Meko was the big winner for her business Eat What's Good. Meko took home two of the awards including an award for Entrepreneur of the Year and Business Professional of the Year.

Meko says her resturant fills a need in the community for fresh, healthy prepared food for people on the go. She says the awards offer great exposure for her business in Chatham-Kent.

"It's always great to get the name out there a little bit more. We've only been open for a little bit less than a year, so there are people still finding us," she says. "I'm from Chatham-Kent and it's neat to come back and within the first year of being back to be recognized by the community. So, (it's) very, very exciting."

The other award winners at the banquet included Southwest Granite and Glass for Business Excellence, Devolder Farms for Industry of the Year, Victory Ford Lincoln Sales Ltd for Corporate Citizen of the Year, and Jessica Weaver was named the Youth Entrepreneur of the Year. As well, Barry Fraser was named Citizen of the Year.
