Infection Rates Remain Low

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is boasting all-time low C. difficile infection rates along with high patient satisfaction.

The health alliance's Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Sarah Padfield says the low infection rates are a good indication of the hospital's focus on hand hygene and proper cleaning practices.

"It's a huge achievement and we're very proud of the fact that we've been all green for the past fiscal year on that metric," says Padfield, who adds they're also getting positive feedback from patients. "We're in the 98% range for people who are satisfied with the care they get in the ER and the patient care unit."

Padfield says wait times at the health alliance's emergency rooms are also coming down.
