In-Depth Reserve Info Coming

Chatham-Kent administration will make information on municipal reserves available for next year's budget.

Ahead of 2016, staff will prepare documents on reserves that explain things like where reserve funds come from, and long-term plans for the money. They'll also include information on expected balances of reserves at the end of the year.

Chief Financial Officer Mike Turner says it will give Chatham-Kent Council a good handle on 2015 reserve allowances. "Provide council with all of the 2014 final resolutions on any surplus figures and 2015 estimates on what funds will be coming out of there."

Chatham-Kent has over 90 reserves holding in excess of $100-million.
