Those attending a recent Chatham-Kent Hospice information session are happy with the progress of the new facility.
"I'm really excited about having the hospice in the community and I think it's going to be fantastic," says Lisa Lyttle, a neighbour of the hospice site.
She is expecting parking problems during the hospice build. "The concerns are because of where I am and I know some of the challenges with parking right now because the Judy LaMarsh building is across the street," says Lyttle. "I think parking is going to be a nightmare during construction."
Bill Magee is a resident at St. Andrew's Residence which owns the land where the new hospice is being built. He is confident in the plans for the hospice after attending the session and is happy to see Chatham getting a similar facility to those in other major centres in the region.
"Ten beds seems to be what the norm is in bigger centres like London and Windsor, so there's no problem with that," says Magee. "I'm very glad we're going to have one here in Chatham."
Construction is expected to start late March or early April and wrap-up in November.
