The president of St. Clair College is uncertain if there will ever be a campus in downtown Chatham.
This after Chatham-Kent Council decided to move $1.3-million meant for the now defunct baking program back into reserves.
John Strasser says he sees the vote as a defining moment in time. He adds they have now lost momentum from when they first secured the $1.3-million.
"They have every right to come back and say, 'no we don't like your plan, so you're not getting our support.' There's nothing earmarked for St. Clair College. We'd be like every other group going there that wanted money from the reserves."
Meanwhile, Mayor Randy Hope says Strasser's comments might have been a "knee-jerk reaction." He adds he'll continue talks with the college.
