"Wildman" Peter Johnson Retiring

One of the most recognizable voices in Ontario agriculture is coming to the end of his Ministry of Agriculture career.

Wheat specialist Peter Johnson says that while he is retiring from the ministry, he is not going to stop researching and speaking at farm events.

"I am keen to continue to move agriculture forward. This is a run away from the paperwork but doing all the fun stuff," he says. "How could it be any better? You get to challenge people, you get to do research to get answers to key questions and you get to interact with growers who are some of the most innovative and smartest people out there."

Johnson says while he is the cereal specialist with the ministry, he has wide interest in all field crops from corn, to soy beans, to edible beans and hay.
