Flyers Edge Maroons

The Leamington Flyers took a close 5-4 win over the Chatham Maroons Thursday night.

The Maroons were able to take a 3-2 lead in the first period. However, the Flyers made a comeback in the second, scoring three more goals over one from Chatham. After a scoreless third period, Leamington left the ice with the win.

Flyers forward Tyler Duarte, who scored two of Leamington's goals, says his team got off to a sluggish start but were able to pull through. "We just try to stick to our game, do the simple things and it'll come," he says. "We were happy with the win."

Maroons Head Coach Tyler Roeszler says the Flyers may not have played their best but they found the way to win. "In the first period, we were really good and we were creating and dominated their for the most part in the first [period]. Then we kind of got away from it in the second," says Roeszler. "That's just the way it goes and they're a first place team for a reason."

The Maroons will take on the Flyers again on Sunday at 7pm.
