Chatham-Kent's 2014-2018 council is officially sworn in.
Mayor Randy Hope, along with 17 councillors, held their first official meeting at the St. Clair College Capitol Theatre Monday night. In his inaugaral address, Hope spoke of the importance of reasonable taxation as well as continuing to strive for job creation.
Newcomer Brock McGregor says this echoes issues brought up during the election. "You heard a lot about taxation and jobs," says McGregor. "We also heard a lot about the health in Chatham-Kent and the need to look at areas to improve that."
There are a total of six newcomers to council. Ward 2 Councillor Trevor Thompson says it's finally time to get to work. "It is all about customer service...this is really ground floor politics here and I'm looking forward to getting started." Council's first regular meeting is set for December 8.
