Flu Shot Clinic Turnout Down

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit is seeing a decrease in attendance in their six flu shot clinics this year.

Staff Nurse Joanne Wytinck says numbers usually fluxuate throughout the shifts. "It's always that first couple hours that are always busy. Then it will die down a little bit."

But just because attendance has lessened, doesn't mean the number of people getting their flu shot has gone down. "A lot of people are going to their family doctors for vaccines," explains Wytinck. "I know that a lot of people are going to pharmacies to get their vaccines just by the amounts of orders that have gone out."

Wytinck stresses that although public health flu shot clinics are now done for the season, doctors and pharmacies still provide the shot.
