Seven Wins For Maroons

The Chatham Maroons have picked up their seventh straight win after a 4-2 victory over the LaSalle Vipers.

During the game Wednesday night, both teams played a back and forth first period, tying things up for the second 2-2. However, the Maroons edged over the Vipers with a goal in the second, and an empty net goal in last seven seconds of the third.

Maroons defenceman Steven Szekesy says even with six wins going into the game, the team had to stay on their toes after a close first period.

"We just gotta stay up beat," he says. "You have to talk about the negatives with what happened in the first, but you just gotta put it behind you and come out in the second and give it your all -- just play it like we know how to play it. We're on a roll right now, so [we] just have to keep doing what we're doing, game to game."

The Maroons are back on the ice on Sunday to take on the Strathroy Rockets at 7pm. The Vipers return to play the St. Thomas Stars on Friday at 7:30pm.
