UPDATE: Border Computer Problems Fixed

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has fixed a 16-hour nationwide computer problem that caused major delays for commercial traffic at the Ambassador Bridge Tuesday.

In an email to BlackburnNews.com, a U.S. customs spokesperson says the Automated Commercial Environment system, which processes imports and exports, crashed at 1am Tuesday.

U.S. customs says the outage may be related to recent system upgrades.

JBJ Trucking in Windsor says some of its drivers waited up to four hours to cross the border.

Ken Hammond with the U.S. customs says the slowdowns have nothing to do with Remembrance or Veterans Day and are strictly coincidental. The long wait times caused extensive back-ups at border crossings in both Windsor and Sarnia, wreaking havoc on local traffic.
