Dr. John Button will begin his 2014-2015 Kiwanis International Presidency looking to complete the Eliminate Project.
The Kiwanis initiative is attempting to raise $110-million to assist in the tetanus vaccination for expecting mothers across the globe.
"We are in the final phase of a campaign to rid the world of maternal neonatal tetanus," says Button. "[It] kills a newborn baby every nine minutes, and robs a young family of its mother every 20 minutes."
The Kiwanis Club is celebrating its 100th anniversary, and contains over 600,000 members across 80 countries. Button says he sees this undertaking as a "labour of love."
