Former Ag Minister Named to Canadian Agricultural Hall Of Fame

Former federal agriculture minister Gerry Ritz has been named to Canada's Agricultural Hall of Fame.

The organization honours people for their contributions to the agriculture and agri-food sector.

The Hall of Fame Association notes that Ritz, who was an MP from Saskatchewan, worked hard for decades to help the industry.

Farm groups including the Alberta Wheat Commission, Alberta Barley and the Canadian Cattlemen's Association congratulated Ritz.

Alberta Barley says Ritz helped pave the way to a new era in Canada's grain industry.

The 2018 Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held in Toronto as part of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair on November 4th.
