Scheer Talks NAFTA In Stratford

Andrew Scheer appeared in Stratford on Thursday, October 19th to let one of his most popular Ontario support bases know that he stands with the dairy industry.

Scheer's comments came at a time when the entire dairy sector is growing more nervous about the possibility of changes to supply management during ongoing North American Free Trade renegotiations, but the Federal Conservative Leader let those attending know that he continues to stand up for the interests of not only the dairy sector, but everyone potentially effected by changes to NAFTA, including those dealing with chickens, eggs and turkeys.

Shortly after the most recent Federal Conservative race, an advisor for Maxime Bernier, who Scheer defeated, felt Scheer's victory was only possible due to the support he had generated from dairy farmers, specifcally in the province of Quebec. Bernier advocated for changes to the supply management system for the majority of his campaign.

Scheer remains a steadfast defender of both NAFTA and Supply Management, and noted that the Liberals could have been quicker to the table with a list of demands as NAFTA renegotiations got underway.
