Food Policy For Canada

Agriculture Minister Lawrence MacAulay highlighted the importance of hearing from Canadians when he attended a summit in Ottawa that's part of the development of a national food policy.

Over 250 participants, including representatives from community organizations, academics, indigenous groups and industry, took part in the two-day event which wrapped up last week.

"The goal of this policy is two-fold," said MacAulay. "To set a long term vision for all aspects related to food such as health, social well being, the environment, and the economy. And identify and action we can take in the short term on matters like production, processing, distribution and consuming of food."

Online consultations were recently launched and remain open until July 27th and the survey can be found at www.canada.ca/en/campaign/food-policy.html.
