Holstein Canada Reaches Record Registration Numbers

Holstein Canada says it's pleased to see another 2,150 registrations completed in 2016.

The gain of more than one per cent on 2015 brings the overall total to a record number of 286,005.

CEO Ann Louise Carson says the organization is proud to achieve the new plateau.

She feels the achievement reflects both the current favourable industry conditions and the continued loyalty of producers towards registration.

Holstein Canada also notes last year was highlighted by the release of its new Herdbook software.

Carson points out the transition to the new program went quite smoothly, as no work days were lost and producers have been able to register even when the office is closed.

She adds that also played a large part in hitting a record high.

In addition to Holstein registrations, the group also added nearly 8,000 more from various other dairy breeds.
