Ontario Ag Trade Mission To India Now Underway

The provincial Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has arrived in India for Ontario's first-ever agri-food trade mission.

Minister Jeff Leal is on the trip with Michael Chan, Minister of International Trade, and 19 other delegates from the agri-food sector.

The goal of the mission is to showcase Ontario's agricultural products and technology in an effort to gain new opportunities for trade.

Minister Leal says Ontario and India have much in common, such as our cultural, economic and community ties.

He adds building partnerships with a growing market like India can open the door to many opportunities, which is essential to grow the province's economy.

The government notes India is projected to be the fourth largest grocery food market in the world by 2020, and is currently worth more than $332 billion.
