Canadian cattle farmers are doing their part to clean the air.
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada researchers have found that beef production today creates 15 per cent fewer greenhouse gas emissions than it did 30 years ago.
Dr. Tim McAllister says the reduction has come from more efficient feeding, higher crop yields and better herd management.
He says it's taken the combined efforts of both the scientists who made discoveries and the beef producers who have implemented new scientific technologies into production.
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's study of the beef industry's greenhouse gas emissions took place from 1981 to 2011 with contributions from the University of Manitoba.
